Andrew Kvenvolden

Just one human being trying to keep up.

Proud Seattleite, been active in the music community as long as I’ve been around. My main vocation is songwriting. Sometimes I think it goes pretty well. Other times it feels like one of the more self-defeating jobs in the world, but I press on.

I’ve played with many local bands and artists, and I had my own band Explone in the 2010s. We put out four releases, got played on KEXP a bunch, and performed all over the map of the USA. You can find our stuff on Bandcamp and on all the streaming services.

As a session musician, I’ve contributed guitar, pedal steel, bass, keyboards and vocals to tons of recordings. How many? Honestly I’ve lost track, but most of them were super fun and I’m always happy to be asked.

Writing and producing music is a good way to stay sane, to keep my balance, to keep breath moving in and out of my body. Most of my songs are stories, they aren’t biographical and they aren’t confessions or therapy or anything at all except something I wanted to listen to, and which I was therefore obligated to bring into existence.

I have a wife and a daughter and they hold me up and keep me joyful and thankful most of the time. You can always catch me playing in different projects around town: Surf The Pines, Wonderstate, Wild Rumours, etc. I know more Fleetwood Mac songs than I ever thought I’d learn.
